Ownership Team
Walter Aikens
President & CEO
Walter is the President and Treasurer of the Aikens Group. Since 1973, he has expanded the family-owned business to a multi-divisional corporation which covers commercial and residential developments, shopping complexes, professional office buildings, and hotels.
As a result of meeting his personal goals, he has become recognized in the community for his business knowledge and sits on many local boards. Walter is on the Board of the United Bank in Winchester, and he is a Trustee for Shenandoah University.
William Aikens
Vice President
Since 2000 William has been instrumental in the growth of the Construction Company. Today, much of his responsibilities lie with finding new land deals and managing engineers and architects with new business ventures that the group wishes to procure. Daily, he is involved with all aspects of the Construction Company with his managers, and helps to ensure that daily operations and customer expectations are met.
With the help of his team, he is responsible for procuring new jobs for the construction, excavation, and the drilling and blasting department. As a General Contractor who lives and breathes the construction process, he also prides himself on ensuring the customer’s expectations are upheld.
William works closely with his team of project managers, estimators, and site excavation divisions, to ensure the minute details are never overlooked. William is active in the community by participating with United Banks Advisory Committee, Rotary International, and is past president of the Top of Virginia Home Builders Association.
Project Management Team
Johnna Hutton
In 2013, Johnna joined H&W Construction and was brought on the team to help with Crane Sales and Estimating. During her time with H&W, Johnna has helped increase sales revenue each year and has been slowly taking on more and more of a role with our Estimating Department. Since joining H&W, Johnna has continued to grow in her project management knowledge and is an integral part of our project administration. Johnna is well versed in her construction skills and has helped with submittal processes, correspondence, and works well with other peers.
Jack Windle
Jack brings knowledge of the construction trade from working in past positions with Fuog Interbuild and Jenkins Restoration. Jack’s tenacity allows him to tackle new challenges each day and is a joy to work with. He is not afraid to take on new challenges and has an open mind while resolving problems.
Claude Finneyfrock
Even before his tenure at Blue Ridge Rock Services, Claude honed his skills in the blasting industry. From 2007 to 2013, he worked as a blaster and estimator, gaining valuable experience and knowledge in the field. With an impressive 42 cumulative years of drilling and blasting experience, Claude brings a wealth of expertise to his role. What sets Claude apart is his passion for learning new things, even after being in the field for so long.
Luke Boles
Luke has an extensive sitework background and is always keeping his customers’ needs in mind.
Jason Miller
As a resident of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Jason is deeply rooted in the community and embraces the spirit of local living. Alongside his professional accomplishments, he enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with his family. Proud of his two grown sons, Elijah and Jacob, Jason epitomizes the values of commitment, family, and a well-rounded lifestyle.
Jason's vast knowledge, strong work ethic, and dedication to his job make him an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring the success of the crane department and the satisfaction of our clients.
David Stevick
A native of Stephens City, David lives with his wife Kerri and his three children. He enjoys partaking in any activity outdoors and works diligently to provide for his family. David has made himself a valuable member of our team by being an open book, ready to lend a hand to anyone at any time.
Mike Adamy
Prior to joining H&W, Mike has been a licensed Class-A General Contractor in the State of Virginia since 1996. He has a strong working knowledge of all phases of commercial, residential, and agricultural construction.
From the local building associations, Mike was honored to receive various awards for his design and development projects in our community. His ability to provide direction is an asset to our company’s future growth.
John Barker
In the early 2000's his career moved to include residential construction, in various capacities from estimating and purchasing to present, with two local home builder organizations. His experience includes single-family and multi- family homes, townhomes, age-restricted communities, historic preservation, and mixed-use complexes. John has worked with local city and county government organizations to plan and develop multiple projects in the local area. John has developed a strong customer service background over the years, this coupled with his varied experience makes him a valuable asset to H&W Construction and its customers.
John is a current board member of Preservation of Historic Winchester (PHW), having served as Vice President and President, and currently as Past President. PHW Is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and architecture of Winchester, VA, through education and advocacy.
Scott Heishman
Scott now oversees all excavation and site development work at H&W as an equipment operator and Excavation Superintendent. Scott has proven himself to be an invaluable asset to our team, based on his long history and experience with site and utility work, along with his willingness to work well with others.
Scott lives in Baker, West Virginia, with his wife Michelle and four daughters. He enjoys supporting his daughters by going to watch their sports games.
Faith Carter
Faith acts as a crucial asset to the management team by preparing and providing financial data, analysis, and solutions to challenging problems. Faith offers guidance, advice, and supervision over the operation and maintenance of financial accounts.
Faith holds a B.S. in Business Administration (with a focus in Finance & Economics), along with a Master of Accountancy. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia. Faith lives in Winchester with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and being active.
Miles Park
Miles has worked with local city and county government organizations to complete multiple projects in the local area. Miles has developed a strong customer service background over the years; this coupled with his varied experience makes him a valuable asset to H&W Construction and its customers.
Miles is currently OSHA 30 certified, CPR-First Aid, and developing a strong safety culture and program at H&W Construction.
Penny Kirk
Previously, Penny has worked in several areas of construction. She has been employed at a traffic signalization company, general excavation contractor, and environmental group. Her positions at those jobs have ranged from Office Manager to Project Manager. In addition, Penny graduated with a BS from Sheperd University in West Virginia.
Penny was born and raised in Winchester, and continues to live there with her husband and two daughters. She has a passion for fitness has been teaching group fitness classes locally since 1996. When not in the office, Penny enjoys hiking and being outdoors.
Ingrid Horta
Ingrid graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, and demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills every day in the office with every person she engages with. As a payroll specialist, Ingrid has great strengths in areas such as attention to detail, employee support, and confidentiality.
Gary Legge
Gary then retired in December of 2017-- however, his retirement was short-lived; as he was asked to rejoin the H&W team based on his experience and expertise. Gary now continues to work on a part-time basis with H&W and enjoys his position as Construction Surveyor.
His extensive surveying career included working in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the country of Suriname in South America.
