Safety on Drilling & Blasting Sites
As drilling and blasting can entail some high-risk practices, our team ensures that all necessary precautions are taken to protect personnel, structures, and the environment during a blast.
Safety is the first step in starting and finishing a blast properly with minimal damage or danger. Our safety process both before and after a blast is in accordance with Virginia and West Virginia law and is monitored by the Fire Marshal for extra security.
Committed to safe and responsible blasting.
These safety measures are designed to ensure that drilling and blasting activities are carried out safely and with minimal impact on the environment and nearby residents. Our operators follow these measures closely during every blast to prevent accidents and ensure that their work meets all relevant regulations and guidelines.
1
Permits
All drilling and blasting activities require a permit from the Fire Marshal. The permit will specify the conditions and requirements that must be met during the work, including safety measures.
2
Notification
The operator will notify all affected property owners and residents in advance of any drilling and blasting activities. This includes providing details of the planned work and the safety measures that will be taken to minimize any impacts.
3
Blast Area
The blast area is then clearly marked and secured with appropriate barriers to prevent unauthorized access. The area is evacuated before the blasting takes place.
4
Blast Design
The blast design is then prepared by a licensed blaster. The design will specify the type and amount of explosives to be used, the hole pattern, and the timing of the blast.
5
Safety Precautions
A range of safety precautions must be taken during the drilling and blasting activities. These may include wearing protective gear, following established blast procedures, and monitoring for vibrations and air overpressure.
6
Post-Blast Inspection
After the blasting is complete, a post-blast inspection is to be carried out to ensure that the area is safe and that there is no damage to nearby structures or the environment.
Blast with confidence, safety assured.
Our meticulous safety protocols protect personnel, structures, and the environment during every blast. From securing permits and notifying residents, we ensure every step complies with local and state laws.
